ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Jaylen Franklin had 15 points and Duran Porter 13 as Abilene Christian charged back in the second half to take a 70-56 victory over Division III Howard Payne on Tuesday night.

Jaren Lewis added 9 points while grabbing eight rebounds for the Wildcats (2-0).

Howard Payne had a 33-29 lead at the break and pushed that to 38-31 before Parker Wentz hit two straight 3-pointers to start a 22-2 run for a 53-40 lead midway of the second period. Porter had 9 of his 13 points in that run. The Wildcats hit 15 of 25 (60 field goal attempts in the second half to finish at 49.1 percent.

Rickey Guillory had 17 points and Khyce Randall, who made 3 of 5 from long range, added 16 for Howard Payne.

Abilene Christian hits the road for four straight games as part of the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic. The Wildcats play at Portland State Sunday.
