CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Officials with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cheyenne say they expect to start operating a new mental health facility next year.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1NJcYMN ) that VA officials say they plan to open the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Facility, which is attached to the main hospital, by January.
The center will provide extended-stay treatment for veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, other mental illnesses and substance-abuse problems.
The Cheyenne VA currently only offers outpatient mental health care and outreach services. Veterans in need of voluntary intensive care over long periods of time are referred to other VA locations, such as Denver.
