COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Coast Technology School will close after this school year.

The Coos Bay World reports (http://bit.ly/1NHU7Si ) that the school board for ORCO Tech voted unanimously Monday night to dissolve the school's charter and instead offer an honors diploma from North Bend High School.

North Bend High administrators developed the plan and ORCO board chair Kelly Barnett says a survey showed community support for the idea.

She says one reason they're ending a successful program is that North Bend High staff came up with an honors diploma that would expand on the ORCO program.

Barnett asked administrators there to commit to including and expanding upon ORCO's curriculum and rigor.

North Bend principal Bill Lucero says the school will work to accommodate ORCO students during the transition.
