SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Coach Brian Kelly says running back C.J. Prosise is undergoing concussion protocol after being injured in No. 6 Notre Dame's win over Pittsburgh.

He will go through a physical conditioning test Monday, and is hopeful Prosise will be play against Wake Forest.

Prosise appeared to injure his left shoulder when he landed on it hard late in the first quarter and his helmet also hit the ground. Kelly said Sunday it was more the neck, describing it as a "whiplash effect."

Prosise finished with 28 yards rushing and 29 yards receiving. He leads Notre Dame (8-1) with 975 yards rushing on 148 carries, an average of 6.6 yards.

With Prosise out, freshman Josh Adams ran for 147 yards on 20 carries. Kelly said even if Prosise is healthy, Adams likely will get some carries against Wake Forest (3-6) Saturday.
