CHESTER, S.C. (AP) — Some residents of a South Carolina town have proposed honoring an 11-year-old boy who died after pushing his sister out of the path of an oncoming car.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/1LP1lRO) the mother of 11-year-old La'Darious Wylie said he pushed his 7-year-old sister, Sha'Vonta, out of the car's path at a school bus stop in Chester on Oct. 27.
La'Darious died the next day in a North Carolina hospital. Elizabeth McCrorey donated her son's organs to help other children survive injury or illness. His funeral was held Thursday.
The driver of the car is charged with felony hit and run resulting in death.
A civic group and other local leaders have begun efforts to have a park near where La'Darious was hit named for him.
