NEW YORK (AP) — After three games, the World Series is averaging its largest television audience since 2009.

The New York Mets' 9-3 win over Kansas City in Game 3 on Friday night drew 13.2 million viewers, with a 7.9 rating and 15 share.

Fox said Saturday the audience was up 9 percent from the 12.1 million for Kansas City's 3-2 win over San Francisco in Game 3 last year. The rating was an increase of 10 percent from last year's 7.2/13.

With the Royals leading the best-of-seven Series 2-1, the games are averaging 14.1 million viewers and an 8.5/16, the highest since the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies averaged 17.9 million and a 10.9/19 for the opening three games in 2009. Last year's first three games averaged 12.4 million and a 7.5/13.
