SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah woman who served as a getaway driver at age 17 won't get her first chance at parole until she's 45.
Meagan Grunwald was convicted of 11 charges in May for her role in a 2014 crime spree. Her boyfriend shot two Utah County Sheriff's deputies, killing Sgt. Cory Wride and injuring the other.
A jury found her culpable for driving her truck through two counties as her boyfriend fired out the back window. Her boyfriend later died in a shootout.
The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole recently set the date for Grunwald's first hearing as July 1, 2042.
Grunwald was sentenced to a combined 30 years to life in prison. She is currently appealing the conviction, arguing that the judge in her case was biased.
