CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt has signed the state onto a lawsuit challenging federal restrictions aimed at protecting sage grouse. The suit comes a few weeks after federal officials announced the bird would not be listed as an endangered species because of aggressive measures underway to protect its habitat. Gov. Brian Sandoval applauded that measure, even though he has raised concerns about differences between Nevada and federal officials' approaches to managing sage grouse habitat.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — It's decision time for a self-described pimp standing trial in the deaths of three people in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip. Ammar Harris either testifies today, or he doesn't. Harris has pleaded not guilty to charges that could get him the death penalty in the February 2013 incident.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 23-year-old Las Vegas man is facing murder and stolen gun charges following his arrest in a fatal shooting last weekend that police say stemmed from an argument during a child's birthday party. Records show that Mose Bennett is being held at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas pending an initial court appearance in the Saturday evening slaying of 28-year-old Tony Anthony Munns. It wasn't immediately clear if Bennett has a lawyer.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Elko County Commission Chairman Demar Dahl is recovering from injuries suffered when he was thrown from his horse. The Elko Daily Free Press reports the county commission postponed a sales tax hearing that was scheduled Tuesday due to the ranching accident. County officials say he's expected to return to work soon, but they don't know when.
