KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon university devoted to bringing high quality medicine to rural areas recently opened its second rural campus "hub" site.
The Herald and News reports (http://bit.ly/1KmycJz ) that Oregon Health & Science University officially opened of its Rural Campus Academic Headquarters in Klamath Falls Monday. The first hub is in Coos Bay.
The campuses are meant to make it easier for rural Oregon communities to recruit physicians, pharmacists, dentists and other health care providers.
Klamath Falls Regional Associate Dean Dr. Joyce Hollander-Rodriguez says students will be more likely to return to rural areas to practice if they have been exposed to the region while learning the profession.
Six students started the Klamath Falls program last month.
University officials say they may consider a third hub in northeast Oregon in the future.
