SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Sparks police are looking for the driver in an early morning hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian near an intersection on the edge of Sparks and Reno.

Officers found the male victim in the bicycle lane of eastbound Victorian Avenue after responding to a call of a man down in the road just east of Kietzke (KIHTZ'-skee) Lane at 3:09 a.m. Monday.

Police Lt. Chad Hawkins said the 55-year-old Sparks man appeared to have been walking in the bike lane next to the sidewalk when he was struck from behind. He suffered major injuries to his upper body and head, and was declared dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Sparks detectives at 775-353-2225.
