And he's calling on older leaders to support them. He made the comments during today's celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March on the National Mall in Washington.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The lawyer for the family of the 12-year-old boy with a pellet gun who was fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer says reports finding that the shooting was justified show the prosecutor's office is avoiding accountability. Those reports by outside experts concluded the patrolman had reason to perceive Tamir Rice as a threat before shooting him last November.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) —Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is calling for an assault weapons ban in the wake of the recent college shootings. He spoke about the issue today at a rally in Boulder, Colorado. The Vermont senator, who's occasionally parted from party orthodoxy on gun control, is also calling for universal background checks and greater mental health measures.
WASHINGTON (AP) — There is growing concern in the United States with the recent violence at holy sites in Jerusalem. And Secretary of State John Kerry has spoken to the Israeli and Palestinian leaders about it. He told them that Washington is monitoring the escalating bloodshed surrounding Temple Mount/Haram al Sharif, a holy site for both Jews and Muslims.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A former investigator for the House Select Committee on Benghazi says he was unlawfully fired in part because he sought to conduct a comprehensive probe into the deadly attacks on the U.S. consulate instead of focusing on Hillary Rodham Clinton and the State Department. The panel denies the accusations and says they come from a properly terminated former employee.
