NEW YORK, Jul 18, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The musical "Hot Feet," inspired by the music of the American funk band Earth, Wind, & Fire, will leave Broadway this month after a only a short run.

Having given 12 previews and 97 performances since it began at the Hilton Theater, the short-lived musical is bowing out after suffering numerous poor reviews, Playbill.com reported.

Directed and choreographed by Maurice Hines, "Hot Feet" joined "Ring of Fire," "Jersey Boys," and "Lennon" as the fourth Broadway musical with "jukebox" roots.

Former Earth, Wind, & Fire lead singer Maurice White provided music and lyrics to the production, which is set to perform on Broadway for the final time Sunday, the Web site said.
