FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Patients can expect long lines as dentists attempt to bring 2,000 residents free dental care during a two-day clinic.
The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1FF83dC) California Dental Association members will provide free treatment Friday and Saturday at the Fresno Convention Center.
Fresno dentist Cory Costanzo is in charge of the event, set for Oct. 2 and Oct. 3. He said the goal of the 3-year-old CDA Cares program is to bring dental services to those who for whatever reason do not have access to it.
He said some association research has found that up to 30 percent of California residents lack access to dental care.
Patients with more extensive needs than what the clinic can offer will be referred to local providers of free or low-cost care.
