LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Daniel Summerhays finished the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Course tied for 41st with a 5-under-par 279 in the third tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs, and dropped to 31st in the overall standings — one spot away from qualifying for the final stop of the FedEx Cup, the Tour Championship.

Lehi's Tony Finau finished 43rd in the standings, and BYU alum Zac Blair was 59th.

Summerhays fired three birdies to one bogey on the front nine to shoot 2-under 33 coming around the turn. But a bogey on No. 11 that included firing his tee shot into the water was one of two mis-hits on the back nine of the even-par Sunday.

The former BYU standout spun his third shot to within 16 feet to save bogey, but the damage was done.

Finau carded a 64 on Friday, but his stay in the top 30 was derailed by shooting 6-over 77 on Saturday, and the former West High basketball standout couldn't make up the difference.

Finau did provide one of the plays of the BMW Championship with his 48-foot chip for birdie on the par-3 sixth hole Friday.

Blair carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 17 and 18 to end the BMW Championship at 2-under 69 on the final day. But his 1-under 283 was barely good enough for 53rd place on the event's leaderboard.

Blair nearly aced the par-3 17th from the tee before landing a tap-in for birdie.
