LAS VEGAS (AP) — Imprisoned former football star O.J. Simpson has lost another appeal of his 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery conviction in Las Vegas. A three-member Nevada Supreme Court panel ruled yesterday there's no reason to grant him a new trial. Simpson's lawyers argued that his trial attorney mishandled his case and had conflicts of interest.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal investigators say parts of an engine compressor were found on the Las Vegas airport runway where a British Airways jet aborted takeoff as its left engine burst into flames. British Airways Flight 2276 was accelerating down a runway Tuesday when the engine caught fire. Slides deployed, and 170 passengers and crew escaped without serious injury.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada System of Higher Education regents have voted to accept the conclusions of an investigator, who says Chancellor Dan Klaich didn't violate any ethical standards. Klaich was accused of inappropriately whitewashing a consultant's draft report that was critical of Nevada's community college system.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 35-year-old Reno man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison after he was arrested with nearly a kilogram of methamphetamine. Federal prosecutors say a Washoe County Deputy found a blue duffel bag with the meth during a traffic stop last summer. A co-defendant, Jennifer Fulcher, earlier was sentenced to six years in prison.
