LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — A Pakistani paramilitary force says a delegation of border officers has left for New Delhi to take up the issue of cease-fire violations with Indian authorities.
Wednesday's statement from the paramilitary force says the 16-man team, led by an army major general, also has delegates from the Pakistani Interior Ministry.
It says the visit is part of a bi-annual meeting between the two nuclear archrivals.
The statement says the three-day talks will discuss unprovoked cease-fire violations along its border in the disputed Kashmir region in order to avoid civilian casualties.
Forces on both sides frequently exchanged fire in recent months in the area, causing multiple civilian and military deaths.
The two countries have fought three wars, two of them over the mountainous Kashmir region claimed by both countries.
