LAS VEGAS (AP) — Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is being fined $9.5 million by federal and state regulators for not taking steps to prevent money laundering in the casino. The U.S Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network says the agency has settled its investigation into the casino for $8 million. The federal agency said Caesars Palace willfully and repeatedly violated the Bank Secrecy Act, including allowing high rollers to gamble millions anonymously in private areas of the casino.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — An Allegiant Air flight bound for Las Vegas from Bismarck, North Dakota, diverted to an airport in southern Utah for what the airline described as a possible maintenance issue. An Allegiant statement says flight 487 with 141 passengers and six crew members aboard landed safely at St. George Regional Airport. No emergency was declared, and passengers were flown by a different plane the final 120 miles to Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas have identified a shuttle bus driver killed in a fiery three-vehicle crash that left a German tourist dead and four other people injured, including a man who police say was driving drunk. The Clark County coroner says 53-year-old Jose Cosenza of Las Vegas died in the Saturday evening crash at a busy downtown Las Vegas intersection. The coroner didn't immediately name the 34-year-old German, pending notification of his relatives.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada is closing a tourism office that it's operated in China since 2004. The state Board of Examiners has voted to approve $52,000 in severance costs for the Beijing office's longtime director and two other staff members.
