MIDVALE, Utah (AP) — Police say they've seized nearly $1 million in drugs and two live grenades from a hotel room in Midvale.

Authorities from the Unified Police Department said they arrested 38-year-old Anthony Richard Aguilera after learning on Friday night that he was staying at the Staybridge Suites.

Officials said detectives from several law enforcement agencies have been investigating a drug trafficking organization they suspect of smuggling large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin into the Salt Lake valley.

Authorities said they learned that Aguilera was in the area along with some drugs, and were able to lure him to the hotel's front desk and arrest him without incident.

They said they found a suitcase under the bed that contained nearly 24 pounds of methamphetamine, 6 pounds of heroin and two functional grenades.
