1 dead, 1 hurt in vehicle collision in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a 19-year-old man is dead after a vehicular collision involving an intoxicated driver.

Authorities say the collision happened Saturday around 6:20 p.m. near Buffalo Drive and Badura Avenue.

According to police, 40-year-old Marc Fernandez attempted to make a left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle being driven by the 19-year-old victim.

Investigators say the victim's BMW struck the front of Fernandez's Ford Explorer and both cars spun before stopping.

Police say the 19-year-old died at a hospital.

Fernandez and a 17-year-old passenger in the BMW were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Fernandez showed signs of impairment.

He has been arrested on one count each of driving under the influence resulting in death and driving under the influence resulting in bodily harm.
