BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A man spending his life in prison for killing a family of three told investigators that his addiction to first-person shooter video games made the crimes easier. The plea agreement for 22-year-old Adam Dees required him to answer detectives' questions about the March deaths of 80-year-old Theodore Welp, 77-year-old Delores Welp and their son, 52-year-old Thomas Welp.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Evacuations notices of various levels remain in effect in west-central Idaho where a wildfire burning in timber has expanded to 135-square-miles. Fire managers say crews are working to protect structures along the Salmon River corridor and that rafters are being stopped and evacuated before entering the fire perimeter. Eighteen large wildfires are burning in Idaho.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An archery hunter is recovering after being attacked in Idaho by a grizzly bear with three cubs Wildlife officials say they could find no signs the bear had been wounded when the hunter fired at it with a .44-caliber handgun. The hunter hiked out after the attack and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Rexburg.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Attorneys who have been arguing over state and federal powers have filed their written positions over whether a judge's decision to block a new Obama administration water rule applies nationwide. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says in court documents that the injunction applies only to the specific complaints alleged by the 13 states. Lawyers for the state say the judge's order contained no geographical limitation.
