He starts the new day with a one-shot lead over four players, including Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner. Jordan Spieth (speeth) is watching play from the sidelines after failing to make the cut.
ENDICOTT, N.Y. (AP) — Round 2 of the Champions Tour Dick's Sporting Goods Open is today. Gene Sauers and Paul Goydos share the lead heading into play with John Huston, who won the tournament two years ago, and Ian Woosnam one shot off the pace.
SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Qualifying is taking place today for tomorrow's season-ending IndyCar race in Sonoma, California. Juan Pablo Montoya enters the final weekend with a 34-point lead over Graham Rahal for the series championship. All thoughts, however, are on driver Justin Wilson, who died earlier in the week after being hit in the head by debris from another car in the race at Pocono.
BEIJING (AP) — It was a good day for American Ashton Eaton at the world track and field championships in Beijing. The Olympic champion beat his own world mark in winning the decathlon. Eaton was around world-record pace throughout the 10 events over two days and finished with six points more than his previous best.
