ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — An Iron County School District bus collided with a drill rig near Cedar City.
The Spectrum reports (http://bit.ly/1JAgaYK ) authorities say no children were on the bus during the Wednesday morning collision. The bus driver was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening and later released.
The rig driver's condition wasn't immediately known.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Bairett says the school bus driver had tried to make a turn while the drill rig driver was heading south. The rig driver swerved to avoid a collision but ended up striking the bus.
The bus sustained damage to its front-end, and the drill rig rolled over on its side.
Traffic slowed for hours as road crews worked to get the drill rig upright and towed from the scene.
