RENO, Nev. (AP) — After 15 years of waiting, Reno's first medical marijuana dispensary is set to open Wednesday.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1EfhEXK ) that Sierra Wellness Connection is slated to open Wednesday near medical offices east of downtown Reno.
A Sierra Wellness spokesman says the shop plans to offer at least six strains of medical marijuana and the glassware to consume it to customers with state-authorized medical cards. Staff will be on-site to advise patients on strains and dosages and informational books and videos are found throughout the dispensary.
Voters approved medicinal marijuana in 2000, but the measure lacked language to establish a system to sell or distribute the drug. The state's first dispensary opened in nearby Sparks last month.
