Idaho Land Board increases payments to beneficiaries

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Land Board has approved substantial increases to public schools and other endowment beneficiaries.

The board on Tuesday voted 5-0 to increase payouts by nearly 12 percent in fiscal year 2017 above the previous year.

The increase means public schools will receive $3.9 million more for a total of $36.7 million, the largest of the endowment's beneficiaries.

Idaho State University, State Juvenile Corrections Center, School for the Deaf and Blind, Idaho Veterans Home and State Hospital North will receive an additional combined $1 million.

The School of Science Fund at the University of Idaho is receiving an additional $840,000.

The five-member Land Board is chaired by Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter.
