BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A wildfire in southwestern Idaho fanned by shifting winds and storms has grown to 123 square miles today. The fire about 40 miles southwest of Boise closed U.S. Highway 95 that connects Marsing, Idaho, with Jordan Valley, Ore. There are no reports of injuries or structures lost in the sparsely populated area.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal judge has sanctioned Idaho for misleading the court about medical and mental health care for inmates. The ruling means that the Idaho Department of Correction will remain under the court's supervision until at least the fall of 2017. IDOC Director Kevin Kempf said he is disappointed by the ruling, and said the department will do everything in its power to resolve the lawsuit.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A nine-year veteran of the Pocatello Police Department has resigned after video showed him hitting a handcuffed suspect. The Idaho State Journal reports Detective Steven Westfall had been on paid administrative leave since last month. He has pleaded not guilty to assault charges and his attorney says the resignation will not affect the case against him.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho house where Ernest Hemingway wrote his last works before killing himself there in 1961 has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Nature Conservancy owns the two-story, 2,500-square-foot house in the central Idaho resort town of Ketchum. Because of zoning restrictions, visits to the house are by invitation only.
