SEBRING, Fla. (AP) — Wayne Estes has been chosen president and general manager of Sebring International Raceway.
The hiring was announced Wednesday by Rick Humphrey, vice president of International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Properties, which operates the road racing facility.
Estes joins Sebring after serving on the staff at Bristol Motor Speedway for 17 years. He had many roles at Bristol, from communications director to vice president of events. He was previously a public relations manager at Campbell & Co., where he handled Ford Motor Company's motorsports accounts for NASCAR.
Estes replaces Tres Stephenson, who announced this year that the 2016 Twelve Hours of Sebring will be his final race.
Sebring International Raceway was established in 1950, evolving from a World War II B-17 training base. Since 1952 it has been home to the famous 12-hour endurance race held every March.
