PHOENIX (AP) — Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco left Tuesday night's game in the top of the first inning after being hit with a pitch from Jeremy Hellickson of the Arizona Diamondbacks. X-rays were negative and the Phillies said the injury was a contusion on his left wrist.

Franco was batting with two outs when he took a pitch off his left forearm and staggered behind home plate, dropping to the ground in pain. A Phillies trainer came out to check on Franco, who walked off the field with his arm hanging and shoulder dipped.

Franco was replaced by Andres Blanco as a pinch-runner, and Blanco remained in the game at third base.
