SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State officials have studied for years if and where they'll rebuild Utah's main state prison, and today they're expected to finally reveal the new location they've picked. Members of the Prison Relocation Commission are expected to forward their choice to Utah's Legislature and governor to take up in a special session. The four sites are in Salt Lake City, Grantsville, Eagle Mountain and Fairfield.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Residents of Ogden have been facing flooded basements since June, but the area-irrigation water supplier may have found the problem: a leak in a nearby reservoir. The Standard-Examiner reports that Pineview Water Systems says crews found a depression in their reservoir when lowering the water level. Officials say Pineview's insurance carrier will contact affected homeowners.

UNDATED (AP) — People are getting their well water tested in northwestern New Mexico after a plume of contaminated water spilled from a Colorado mine into the Animas River. In Utah, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is warning visitors to avoid drinking, swimming or boating on affected stretches of the San Juan River and Lake Powell until further notice. Gov. Gary Herbert's office said the governor is disappointed in the EPA's initial handling of the spill but the state has no plans for legal action.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a car crash that killed a woman on the Mirror Lake Highway. The UHP says that Angela Jones of Kamas was behind the wheel when the car careened off the side of Route 150 and rolled near Kamas late Sunday night. She died at the scene. A man riding with her suffered minor injuries.
