LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) — Safety officials in New Hampshire are investigating the collapse of a circus tent during a severe storm that killed a father and daughter and injured about 22 others. Authorities are looking at how the tent was put up at the Lancaster Fairgrounds, about 90 miles north of Concord. They're also talking to witnesses. Heidi Medeiros says it suddenly went dark and she heard someone scream, "Get out, get out." The storm early yesterday evening was packing 60 mile-an-hour wind gusts and hail.
TORONTO (AP) — At least two people are dead and three others are wounded after shooting that started at a Toronto nightclub spilled onto the streets early this morning. Police said they responded to a call about shots being fired at the Muzik nightclub on the grounds of the Canada National Exhibition. The venue was hosting the official OVO Fest after-party featuring Toronto rapper Drake. It's not clear if any arrests have been made.
TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Human Rights Watch wants prison authorities in Libya to investigate the alleged abuse of a son of former dictator Moammar Gadhafi and other inmates in a Tripoli prison. The U.S.-based group says a video made available by the news website Clearnews apparently shows guards beating Al-Saadi Gadhafi on the soles of his feet during an interrogation at al-Hadba prison. Other prisoners are in the background crying out in pain from being beaten as well.
TEQUESTA, Fla. (AP) — The boat two teens were on when they went missing off Florida's Atlantic coast is no longer where the Coast Guard found it. Multiple media outlets are reporting that a marine salvage company hired by the Coast Guard to bring the boat back to shore can't find the vessel, which was discovered capsized on July 26. The Coast Guard says the boat had been left unsecured and the agency has no plans to look for it. The Coast Guard has called off its search for the 14-year-old boys.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A sheriff's office in Kentucky is hoping that drug dealers will turn in their competition. Franklin County's Sheriff's Office has posted a flyer that shows a marijuana leaf and says, "Is your drug dealing competition costing you money? We offer a free service to help you eliminate your drug competition!" At the bottom of the flyer, people are asked to fill out information about the drug dealer they're reporting, including the dealer's name and vehicle. As of this morning, the post had hundreds of online shares.
