HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe plans to seek extradition for the American dentist who killed a protected lion while on a guided hunt. Minnesota dentist Walter James Palmer reportedly paid $50,000 to hunt the lion, which Zimbabwean officials allege was lured out of a national park and shot with a bow earlier this month. They say the animal walked around wounded until Palmer allegedly shot it with a gun some 40 hours later.

SAINT-ANDRE, Reunion (AP) — After 16 agonizing months without answers, loved ones of those on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 will likely have to wait at least another day for confirmation that it crashed into the sea. CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The man accused of killing nine members in a black church in South Carolina is expected to appear in court today. ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he's convinced he made the right decision in closing the Baltimore Detention Center. The facility has had long-standing problems, including a sophisticated drug-and-cellphone smuggling ring involving dozens of gang members and correctional officers. The investigation also exposed sexual relations between a jailhouse gang leader and female guards that left four of them pregnant. Maryland Democrats are criticizing Hogan for not including them in the decision.
