SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say an officer was injured when he was struck by a car driving by a suspect they were chasing.
KUTV reports (http://bit.ly/1LTHdP2 ) that the Unified Police officer was hurt Wednesday night in West Valley City. He was putting down spike strips when the suspect rammed into him. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police later apprehended the suspect, 31-year-old Tyrel Cox. He was arrested on suspicion of a host of charges including aggravated murder, reckless driving and DUI. Cox has a long criminal with numerous felony arrest warrants.
The AP sought comment on the charges from Cox, but could not verify whether he had a listed telephone number or an attorney.
