BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings pleaded guilty to reckless driving stemming from an arrest in Georgia in January.
Karla White, office manager of the Gwinnett County Recorder's Court clerk in Georgia, said Thursday that Jennings was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and must complete a substance abuse program. He paid a $1,147 fine.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Jennings was charged with DUI, speeding and reckless driving in early January after he was clocked driving a 2015 Mercedes 99 mph in a 65 mph zone on an Atlanta-area freeway. Police said he told an officer he was running late for a parent-teacher conference.
The DUI charge was dismissed. Jennings pleaded no contest to speeding.
Jennings had an excused absence from camp Thursday. He could face disciplinary action by the NFL.
