WASHINGTON (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country is looking forward to the November release of a former Navy intelligence analyst who was convicted of spying for Israel. American Jonathan Pollard has been in prison for nearly 30 years for providing Israel with reams of sensitive and classified information, including the electronic capabilities of nations hostile to Israel. He's due out in November. Israeli officials say his release will not ease their opposition to the Iran agreement.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry has wrapped up another day of defending the Iran nuclear deal to skeptical lawmakers. Kerry at times became visibly frustrated during testimony before the House Foreign Relations Committee, and he accused some members of misunderstanding details of the agreement. He reiterated that nothing in the deal is built on trust and that if Iran tries to develop a nuclear weapon covertly, the inspection protocol of the agreement is strong enough that the international community will know.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — The father of Colorado theater shooter James Holmes says he noticed his son had an odd facial expression about seven months before the attack, and he was reminded of it later when he saw his son's mug shot. Robert Holmes testified today that in December of 2011, he noticed his son smiling, grimacing and smirking, and having a hard time making eye contact. He's trying to convince a jury to spare James Holmes' life.

NEW YORK (AP) — Tom Brady's first game with the Patriots this season will be against the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 18 -- unless NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's four-game suspension is overturned in court. Brady is accused of knowingly using under-inflated footballs in last season's AFC title game win over Indianapolis. He's denied that, but he has admitted to having his cell phone destroyed before a meeting with an investigator.

GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) — A Texas man who slipped onto a jet to stop his girlfriend from leaving for Guatemala is facing a charge of criminal trespassing. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Police say Damarias Cockerham "walked" through a checkpoint without identification or a ticket.
