BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Christian advocacy group is arguing that a federal judge should not dismiss their lawsuit against a northern Idaho city, challenging that the city's anti-discrimination ordinance violates the wedding chapel owners' religious rights. A judge is expected to issue a decision in the next few weeks. A Coeur d'Alene spokesman says the lawsuit is unnecessary because the chapel is exempt from the city's ordinance because it is registered as a religious organization.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal judge says an Idaho inmate can move forward with his lawsuit against the state even though he's already won a six-figure settlement from the state's prison health care provider. The lawsuit contends that the prison guards and the medical care providers sent him to an observation cell instead of calling for emergency care. The inmate says that as a result of the delay in care, he sustained severe and irreversible heart muscle damage.
SALMON, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in east-central Idaho are scaling back a search for a 2-year-old boy who went missing earlier this month during a camping trip with his family. The Lemhi County Sheriff's Office tells KTVB-TV that the decision comes after a 10-day extensive search in the Stone Reservoir area near the town of Salmon. Authorities say the parents are not suspects.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The drought is bringing warmer temperatures to western Idaho lakes, stressing fish and threatening oxygen levels. The Spokesman-Review reports hot water means more plant growth and less oxygen, with the level completely depleted along the floor of Lake Coeur d'Alene's south end.
