RIVERDALE, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a man who was fatally hit by a semi on a highway near Riverdale may have intended to end his life.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1CJKfEf) that the 47-year-old man from Clearfield was in a vehicle early Sunday that was parked off to the shoulder on I-15.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say the car was having mechanical problems.
The UHP says the man without warning ran into oncoming traffic just as a semi-tractor trailer was driving north.
According to the UHP, the man was killed instantly.
Authorities did not identify him.
There were no other injuries and traffic had to be reduced to one lane for three hours.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
