SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Two cats survived a Salt Lake City house fire after firefighters used oxygen masks to revive them.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department says 30 firefighters responded to the fire around 10:50 a.m. Friday.

Fire officials say three people were home at the time but were able to escape the two-story building, which sustained heavy damage.

But Salt Lake City fire spokesman Jasen Asay says firefighters found the two cats and they were suffering from smoke inhalation.

According to Asay, firefighters used oxygen masks specifically designed for felines to restore their normal breathing.

They were then reunited with their owners.

There were no other injuries except one person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
