WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — A Watertown family's pet raccoon was euthanized after it scratched and bit a police officer's arm.
The officer was treated at a local hospital. The raccoon is being tested for rabies at South Dakota State University.
The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/1HgKIci ) that the incident happened Tuesday after police received a complaint about a resident with a pet raccoon.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the animal to bite the officer.
