CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The founder of the Patagonia outdoor clothing company and a well-known wildlife photographer are suing over plans to pave a road in Grand Teton National Park.
The gravel road provides access to a subdivision next to the park. Property owners there include Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard (EE'-von SHIN'-ard) and photographer Tom Mangelsen.
Chouinard and Mangelsen are among seven people who recently sued National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis and Grand Teton Superintendent David Vela in Wyoming federal court.
They allege park officials neglected to do an environmental analysis of plans by the subdivision to pave a mile of the private road where it crosses through the park.
Park spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs declined to comment on the lawsuit but said subdivision residents disagree among themselves over whether to pave the road.
