CONDON, Mont. (AP) — Authorities are looking for whoever is responsible for poisoning two Labrador retrievers near Condon.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks spokesman John Fraley says both dogs went into convulsions and died after being taken on walks by their owners on Owl Creek Road south of Bigfork. Officials believe someone placed strychnine-laced hamburger on the road during the third week in June.
Fraley told the Missoulian (http://bit.ly/1T7YfLQ) that wardens are concerned about the potential for the poison to harm or kill wildlife, as well.
Strychnine is a strong toxin commonly used to kill rats and other pests, and symptoms usually appear within 15 to 60 minutes of ingestion.
