MARSING, Idaho (AP) — Southwest Idaho law enforcement officials say a 19-year-old has drowned in a pond near Marsing.

According to the Owyhee Sheriff's Office, Cainen Bryan Johnson of Nampa was found Sunday afternoon in Claytonia Pond outside of Marsing. Owyhee County dispatchers say they received a call about an accidental drowning around 3:30 p.m.

Emergency responders then found Johnson roughly 100 feet from shore.

Owyhee Sheriff's Chief Deputy Lynn Bowman says Johnson had been under water for at least an hour.

As of Monday, the coroner was still investigating Johnson's death, but officials suspect the cause of death to be accidental drowning.
