LONDON (AP) — Today marks the start of play at Wimbledon, the third major of the year in tennis. The two top seeds are in action as Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) open play.

HOUSTON (AP) — In the best matchup of the night in baseball, the Astros are home to the Royals. Houston starts the day in first place in the American League West while the Royals are tops in the AL Central.

MIAMI (AP) — Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins has undergone surgery on his broken left hand. The slugger is expected to be out of action between four and six weeks. Stanton, who leads the majors in home runs and runs batted in, was injured on a swing during Friday's game against the Dodgers.

UNDATED (AP) — As expected, LeBron James has reportedly opted out of his contract with Cleveland. A person with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that James will not exercise a $21.6 million option on his contract, making him a free agent on July 1. The move allows him to sign a bigger one-year contract before looking to cash in on an even bigger deal in 2017 when revenue increases from new TV contracts.

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — The winner of yesterday's Sprint Cup race in Sonoma, California is Kyle Busch. He held off brother Kurt to win the race and become the 11th driver to win this season. Clint Bowyer finished third, followed by points-leader Kevin Harvick and Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano.
