SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) — Four Saginaw Valley State University students have been sentenced for their roles in a hazing incident involving their fraternity.
A Saginaw district judge sentenced Tevon Conrad and Laurence Dunn to two months on an electronic monitoring device. Trevor Hoskins and Maurice Polk Jr, received a three month monitoring device sentence due to their minor criminal history. The Saginaw News (http://bit.ly/1IuFieT ) reports that each man also received an 18-month probation term.
A 22-year-old student alerted campus police last fall after sustaining an injury that caused him to lose consciousness. He said it was caused by the men, who often struck Omega Psi Phi fraternity pledges with open hands or a wooden paddle.
The men pleaded no contest in May to misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault and conspiring to commit hazing causing physical injury.
