CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina has opened its doors, just a few days after a gunman killed the pastor and eight other church members. On Sunday, the historic black church embraced strangers who walked in from the street or tuned in from home for the first worship service since Wednesday night's mass shooting. A black sheet was draped over a chair where the late Rev. Clementa Pinckney used to sit.

FRIENDSHIP, N.Y. (AP) — Hundreds of law enforcement officers have shifted their search for two prison escapees to two New York towns near the Pennsylvania border. Authorities say they've received a credible report that escapees David Sweat and Richard Matt were spotted Saturday near a railroad line. The men were discovered missing June 6 from the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan official says the Taliban have captured a second district in the northern Kunduz province after heavy fighting with local security forces. The head of the provincial council says the insurgents attacked the district from four sides, setting off heavy fighting before seizing full control of the area early Monday. He says about 150,000 residents are unable to leave. The Taliban seized control of another district in Kunduz on Sunday.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — An Indonesian court has denied the final appeal of a French national facing execution for drug offenses. The administrative court in Jakarta says it does not have the judicial authority to overturn a presidential rejection of clemency. French President Francois Hollande has warned of diplomatic consequences and possible economic fallout if the man is executed.

BRUSSELS (AP) — Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras (TSEE'-prahs) is headed to Brussels for a crucial emergency eurozone summit aimed at reaching a deal between Athens and its international creditors. Greece is looking at a June 30 deadline to make a 1.6 billion euro ($1.8 billion) loan repayment to the International Monetary Fund, and it faces a default and a potentially disastrous exit from the euro if it doesn't receive bailout money.
