PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Portland State University student has accused the school of treating him differently because he is of Arab descent when a professor gave him a "zero" grade on a chemistry exam after he failed to present photo ID at the end of the test.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/O7vHYR ) that Mohamad Hariri filed a lawsuit Wednesday blaming the poor grade and subsequent suspension for cheating as the reason he was not accepted to several dental schools.

He alleges that PSU professors allow non-Arab students to retake exams after forgetting to carry their IDs.

A PSU spokesman declined to discuss the allegations, citing the school's policy of not commenting on unresolved litigation. The school has a policy of requiring students to show ID during some examinations to prevent cheating.
