PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Nye County Republican leaders have expressed support for their chairman, who was arrested last week on suspicion of impersonating a Las Vegas police officer.
The GOP county central committee, at a meeting Saturday in Pahrump, approved a resolution saying it expects Bill Carns' "full vindication" based on the facts as it knows them and the chairman's character.
KSNV-TV of Las Vegas reports (http://bit.ly/1HVnusW ) the resolution also states the county has "a history of politically motivated incidents" and the allegations against Carns appear to be false.
Stopped Monday in Pahrump and cited for driving an unregistered vehicle and fictitious registration, sheriff's deputies say he provided an officer identification number with the Las Vegas police department to get out of those initial tickets.
He then was arrested on a gross misdemeanor charge of impersonation of a peace officer.
