BEIJING (AP) — The outlook is apparently grim for the more than 450 passengers aboard a Chinese cruise ship that sank quickly Monday night in the Yangtze River. Chinese state media say at least one person is dead and just 10 people have been rescued. Most passengers on the four-level ship were between 50 and 80 years old. The weather was stormy at the time and fog is hampering the rescue.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration will have to revamp airport security procedures because of poor marks at screening checkpoints. According to a classified review, undercover agents were easily able to get fake guns and explosives past screeners. ABC News first reported that test agents were able to smuggle prohibited items through TSA checkpoints in 67 out of 70 attempts.

CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal judge in Cincinnati has once again delayed court proceedings for a man accused of plotting to attack the U.S. Capitol in support of Islamic State extremists. Christopher Lee Cornell has pleaded not guilty to four counts, including attempted murder of U.S. officials and employees. The judge cites complex legal issues and says both sides need more time in deciding on expert witnesses.

CENTRAL, S.C. (AP) — Months after South Carolina voters re-elected Sen. Lindsey Graham, he has higher political ambitions. Graham announced Monday in his hometown of Central that he's running for the Republican presidential nomination. He said at a rally that he has more experience with national security than any other candidate in the race -- and in his words -- "That includes you, Hillary."

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) — Alabama authorities say a college student killed his mother during an argument over his bad grades. The student has allegedly confessed. The woman's body was found in the backyard of a home in the town of Mentone, about 75 miles east of Huntsville. The 22-year-old -- reportedly a biology major -- is being held without bail.
