SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — A Kentucky thoroughbred farm's statue of a famous breeding stallion is serving as a stand-in for a new feature being unveiled at a New York park.

Monday's dedication of Centennial Park in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs was to include the unveiling of a welcoming display featuring a statue of Native Dancer, one of racing's greatest horses and the winner in 21 of 22 career races.

But The Saratogian (http://bit.ly/1FRyQ4a ) reports the sculptor needs more time to finish the life-size bronze, so Overbrook Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, agreed to loan their statue of Storm Cat, another celebrated thoroughbred. Storm Cat raced in the mid-1980s before becoming one of the highest-earning breeding stallions.

The Storm Cat statue was installed Thursday.

Centennial Park is a gift to the city from thoroughbred owners and philanthropists Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson, who live in Saratoga.
