POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A Utah man is pleading not guilty in a 2013 triple slaying at a dog-fighting and marijuana operation in rural eastern Idaho. KIFI-TV reports that 35-year-old Severo Luera is charged in the in the deaths of 32-year-old Trent Christensen, his girlfriend and his father. Their bodies were discovered in April 2013 at a property outside Holbrook.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice wants to improve access to voting for American Indians and Alaska Natives. Justice Department officials say the department will seek legislation requiring states with Native American reservations or other tribal lands to locate at least one polling place in a venue selected by tribal governments.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A 23-year-old northern Idaho man is pleading guilty in federal court to killing bald and golden eagles. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Idaho says a search of Adrian Brown-Sonder home in the town of Plummer found two bald eagles, two golden eagles, two rough-legged hawks, two red-tailed hawks and a large number of eagle and hawk feathers.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Spring showers appear to have brought out the rare giant Palouse earthworm, a creature native to the Palouse Prairie that can grow up to a yard long. The Lewiston Tribune that three supersized earthworms were found last week along Paradise Ridge Road. University of Idaho researchers will need to do genetic analysis to confirm the species.
