OLD TOWN, Maine (AP) — A student at an Old Town middle school is facing charges for allegedly selling drugs in a school bathroom and having a disassembled gun in his backpack.
Police responded to the Leonard Middle School at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday after a student reported seeing another male student attempting to sell drugs in the bathroom. The school was put into lockdown for about two hours during an investigation.
A police dog found drugs on the student and the weapon in his backpack. Police charged him with aggravated drug trafficking and expect to bring a gun charge.
Superintendent David Walker said "the students involved are good kids who made a terrible choice."
The student was released on conditions to his parents.
