CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada senators have approved a bill extending the state's statute of limitations on sexual assault cases. The measure raises the reporting deadline from four years to 20 years after the date of the alleged crime. The proposal now heads to the governor.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada senators have passed a bill that aims to resolve a fight between rooftop solar companies and NV Energy. Advocates for rooftop solar installations have been protesting against a 3 percent state cap on how many solar customers can sell energy back to utility companies. They say the state will reach the cap this year, and the solar industry could come to a standstill. The bill would allow the Nevada Public Utilities Commission to decide on a tariff to charge solar customers once the cap is reached.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada senators have passed a bill creating a felony-level offense for multiple graffiti convictions. The measure would require anyone with two or more convictions for graffiti offenses, including at least one that's a felony, to be automatically charged with a Class D felony. That charge carries a penalty of one to four years in prison.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow students to qualify for the state's Millennium Scholarship with their ACT scores, not just with good grades. The bill requires the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education to set a minimum qualifying ACT score. Existing law requires students to have a high school grade point average of 3.25 to qualify for the money.
